I have a fat volume of Yavorski's letters ... it must be in some libraries too. I've never heard of a biography, but I'm not following musicology very closely. Indeed, Anton Rovner probably knows more than anyone about Protopopov. He wrote his PhD about him and discovered some interesting things about his imprisonment etc.Emil Borisovich Sernov wrote:Hello Members,
Does anybody have detailed biography of Sergei Protopopov and Boleslav Yavorsky?
Thank you.

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
does anyone know if Rachmaninoff's Hungarian Dance Op. 06 No. 02 has been arranged for piano solo? It's quite a piece and I would love to give it a go on the Piano! It's originally written for Violin/Piano. Thanks!

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Here's a rather colossal volume of children's piano pieces, all written for 'senior' level students and, as such, cross over into the territory of normal repertoire (i.e. I've seen some of these works, such as the Abramyan prelude and Tchaikovsky preludes, included in normal recitals). As well, it's yet another interesting survey of many of the USSR's different nationalities. If anyone has any of the previous (or subsequent) volumes in this series, I'd be very interested.
