A very interesting collection of pieces here, Alfred. The Krugulski pieces remind me of stuff I wrote as a teenager.....sort of loud and bangy while the Lubunski pieces are what I wish I'd written as a teenager with the occasional nice Shostakovich-like harmonic idiom--simple and unpretentious. (But then I wasn't a child prodigy, either.)

Rozycki !! How wonderful to have another work by him. He writes very well for the keyboard, I was just playing his Fantasiestucke a few days ago.

Thanks for all these Polish pieces, Alfred! I do hope my amateur comments spark some enthusiasm somewhere for people to have a go at some of these very interesting pieces you find for us.

Rodkievicz: My goodness! What's all the fuss about in the Op.3? The material there certainly doesn't seem to warrant all those notes...but a good example of an old-fashioned virtuoso piece with a very improvisatory flavor. The 3rd dance of Op.22 is much more like it.

The juxtaposition of the material in Skarzynski's Op.4 is rather odd, but perhaps the prefaced poem explains it all.

Another interesting Polish experience at the piano today. Thank you Alfred.

Thanks very much for all the Polish scores, Alfor, especially the Morelowski. I'm enjoying the Gavotte from Danses à l'Antique Op.4. and adding it to my favorites; the Kosenko Gavotte No.7 in b minor from the Op.19 Etudes, the Bortkiewicz Gavotte-Caprice Op.3 No.3, and the Ponce Gavota in D flat.

Thank you for the Philipp Scharwenka! Does anyone know of any recordings of his piano works available? I believe also that his music is worthy of exploration....

My pick of today's interesting offerings is Philipp SCHARWENKA's Scherzo-- it is an effective piece.

I always take great interest in exercises designed in support of Chopin's etudes, and here we have Mr. Levey with his 1907 offering. Some of these are obvious while others seem pedantic, but his point of playing thru his studies in all keys makes a good point, and he makes it easy for us.
