A nice collection of Franck waltzes today, Alfor. I really like the Hegner suite, alas he died young. All in all, a pleasant afternoon's diversion playing through these. Thanks!

I'm very late with my response to your recent postings of works by Heinrich Neal, Alfor, but I must congratulate you on and thank you for scanning these works. Neal's compositional soundworld really appeals to me. Hopefully I'll be able to learn and play some of these works some day!

Alternative scan, dedicated to Frank (sorry, but my copy was the better one :D ):

Rio GEBHARDT (German Jazz-Pianist, composer and conductor; 1907-1944; "The German Gershwin")
Aus der Spielzeugschachtel (ein Kindertraum)
Gebhardt, Rio Aus der Spielzeuhschachtel.pdf
Good; in parts slightly conventional style; not very much of Gershwin here!
Interesting enough the German cradle song "Schlaf, Kindchen, schlaf" is quoted in the first piece (page 4)
and not in No. 2 "Cradle song. Nocturne".

Dear Alfred,

So nice to have such a beautiful and clear scan of the Rio Gebhardt!! I'd be embarassed to say just how many years have gone by since I photocopied this work at the Library of Congress...suffice it to say that the photocopy ink has faded and turned brown in the intervening time. It really is a fine work. And I love the Richard Franck Klavierstucke! So much imagination at work here, and such fun to play. As always, thank you for this wonderful music!

All Best,

Frank

Wonderful, Alfor. I also have enjoyed the music of the younger Franck and have especially enjoyed his Chaconne which you posted earlier. And much fun to be had with Franck the elder in this 5th volume and spent a pleasant afternoon with this volume. The distinct voice of Juon is nicely crystallized in these charming miniatures and I especially like the Berceuse.
