Back in August we had a discussion around the composer's Op 21 which was originally 18 pieces and was reduced at some stage to 13 pieces. Most modern editions seem to run with the 13 pieces.
Didi kindly posted Vol. 2 of the original edition on the old PP....and I have now managed to obtain and scan the 1st volume. I have included both volumes for completeness.

And now for the "P"'s: Pavel Avgustovich Pabst. Born 1854, Königsberg [now Kaliningrad]: died 1897, Moscow. Pianist, pedagogue and composer [of German birth]. Following early piano studies with his father, Pabst continued his study with Door at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik, plus a number of lessons from Liszt. In 1874 he travelled to Riga, where he taught piano: four years later he accepted a position at the Moscow Conservatoire at the invitation of Nicholas Rubinstein. Following Rubinstein’s death he became the director of the Conservatoire in 1883, and from 1881-97 also held the title of Professor of Piano. Pabst exerted a considerable influence on the training of a number of Russian musicians including Bekman-Shcherbina, G & L Konyus, Gedike, Gol’denveizer, Igumnov, Lyapunov, Medtner, Olenin and Yaroshevsky.
As a pianist he was noted for his impeccable sense of musical architecture and well-rounded technique. Although he maintained a wide repertoire, his speciality was as an interpreter of Liszt and Schumann’s music, he was also a greater advocate of the music of his friend’s, Tchaikovsky and Arensky. He was also prolific as a composer although it has proven difficult to build a full list of his works beyond those that are particularly well-known, including the various paraphrases he wrote on works by Tchaikovsky and Rubinstein. Was reading the post with regards to Bortkiewicz and thought I should perhaps upload his Ballade (op. 42) and his Elegie (op. 46) - they are particular favourites of mine!
