Hi all,

If anyone lives in Berlin and has access to this library and would be happy to make a copy of the score I would be willing to pay you for your time and copies. We could do this via paypal.

Let me know.

Thanks

Does anyone have or know where I could the first Improvisationen uber Melodien aus Richard Wagner's Opern fur Pianoforte von Eduard Schutt - No.1 Der Fliegende Hollander "Ballade und Matrosenchor"?

ISMLP has NO. 2 & 3 but not the first. I have tried Worldcat, European Library, British Library and it seems to not exist anywhere.

Thanks for your help.
I can get it in November.
Best regards, Alfor S. Cans

Jacques-Simon Herz: born Frankfort-on-the-Main 1794; died at Nice 1880. He went to Paris when a child, and in 1807 was admitted to the Conservatoire, where he studied piano under Pradher. Herz became a distinguished pianist, and inaugurated a series of very successful concerts. For some years he played and taught in England. Returning to Paris in 1857, he was appointed assistant professor of piano at the Conservatoire, where his brother, Henri Herz, was professor.

These are no doubt considered rarities from the brother of Henri Herz.........I have no idea how many works Jacques composed but here are four of his creations:

Airs de ballet "Robert la Diable"
Herz J - Airs de Ballet 'Robert Le Diable'.pdf
"La Favorita" Fantasia
Herz J - 'La Favorita' Fantasia.pdf
March from "Le Prophete"
Herz J - March from Le Prophete.pdf
Variations Brillantes on "Muette de Portici"
Herz J - Variations Brillantes on 'Muette de Portici'.pdf

Heinrich von Herzogenberg (1843-1900). German pianist and composer. Studied with Dessoff at the Vienna Conservatoire, then lived in Graz; in 1872 he moved to Leipzig where he founded, with Spitta, Holstein and Volkland, and became the principal conductor of the Bach Verein (1874-85). Became professor of composition at the Hochschule fur Musik in Berlin (1885-88); and director of the "Meisterschule" from 1889-92 and 1897-1900. He was a prolific composer, his main influneces being Brahms and Bruch. Works include oratorios, a cantata, psalms and motets, two symphonies, symphonic poem "Odysseus", chamber music, string sonatas, piano and organ music.

I have posted his Five Pieces Op 25 [thank you Mr P].
