Pianophilia

It's been a goal of mine to record and personally archive the pieces I study and or perform both as side projects on my own and with the help and guidance of my current instructor/teacher. This thread will serve as a whiteboard of sorts for me to post links to any recordings I make. Folks are welcome to go into the channel and check out some of my older stuff, occasionally I upload old recordings that it just took me a while to like them enough to make 'public'.

I started 2017 with the first 2 of a long term series (of quite a number of works) project featuring the music of Japanese composer Keichi Okabe Born: May 26, 1969, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. (usually I keep something soviet and something Japanese in rotation at all/any given time).

Shared privately with friends and they were well received and I was encouraged to post to pp.

The music although contemporary by chronology is pretty benign staying in the tonal neighborhood with romantic, neoclassical and jazz influences (with smitter or smatter of minimalism at times). The pieces overall are quite attractive, especially if people would just let themselves like them.

Couple more of Okabe's works [arranged by Keigo Hoashi] from an achievement eval/student performance recital for my teacher's end of term studio recital. Was nice to present rather new music that was not too abstract or difficult to listen to. Some of the source music may not be super developed but they are fun fodder nonetheless

Hope to add a little bit to the recording archive of ignored or neglected pieces with this one. A highlight for me since there isn't a whole lot of attention given to this transcription by Moszkowski, hardly an obscure composer, well known actually. Add to that, the fact that it is a Beethoven work, and a rather popular one at that, and it seems and odd glaring ommission that this piece didn't have any video recordings represented on youtube at all.
Little improv like liberty taken at a spot or two in order to keep the piece and performance together given this was live and on stage rather than a scenario where i could audition several takes in a recording session and keep the best one. Alas the beauty of all or nothing one take make or break live playing.... i was pleased with a lot of the detail i was able to extract from this little score of a transcribed fragment of Beethoven's violin sonata in c minor op 30 no 2, the 2nd mov andante cantible as realized for solo by Moszkowski

Nice transcription. I would not call Moszkowski an obscure composer. He is rather famous among pianists.

Many thanks and sorry for the wrong link earlier, using a mobile to post can be....problematic. fixed it now, and totally agree, Moritz is one of the rather popular ones, which is what struck me as odd that there were no video performances of the piece when i set out to learn it and perform and upload

Here's a little reup never really played up , old but gold, my favorite period for Scriabin is from mostly after. Op. 8 till about op 50, ie I like Scriabin in general is fantastic but the middle period in particular is jiggy.
These little mazurkas from op. 25 don't seem to get the play that the etuds preludes and sonatas get, shame , they are super interesting
