You know Alfor that Vytautas Barkausakas & Sergei Slonimsky are both still alive. The copyright position as regards their music published during the Soviet era and presented here in Soviet editions is not at all clear. Sikorski seem to be Barkauskas's main publishers, though they do not seem to publish the works posted here.

I will ask Malcolm whether he is happy to keep the scores on site, but I would always prefer members to check the copyright position of soviet editions of living composers before posting them, and preferably contacting Malcolm for his view on the matter.

We are all aware that posting such material does bring otherwise little known composers to members' attention, but we cannot afford to anger any of the publishers of such material if it has indeed been published since Soviet days. A little research and caution would be useful.

Occasionally we need a really easy piece as recreation from playing Messiaen, Boulez, Sorabji... :D :
Moriz ROSENTHAL
Fantasie um Johann Strauss (original edition)
Rosenthal Fantasie um Johann Strauss.pdf
A couple of pianists had to sign some sort of proclamation. With indignation the last one to sign asked: "What shall I write into this tiny space left?!" "Your repertoire" Rosenthal said.

A famous pianist wanted to join the army, but he failed the body tests. "That was predictable" Rosenthal said "no fingers!".

Dear Alfor
How did you guess? You're quite right -- very much my cup of tea. Thanks indeed! Any more by Mr Jemnitz would be marvellous. Can't find any piano music in print.
