Gigout Piano Sonata!

Post by Chaminade »

I've been undertaking an interesting study of the great French organ tradition, such as Widor, Vierne, Dubois, but focussing on their works for piano. I was very interested to learn that Gigout wrote a piano sonata in F major. I would love to have a look at the score of this somehow, or indeed, any other of his works for solo piano. There appears to be a great lack of French piano sonatas around this period. I'm aware of Dukas and Dutilleux, Boieldieu and Dubois. Any information very happily received.

Looks like it was issued in 1905 by Hamelle. BNF has both the printed score as well as the MS. I don't see any other sources.

There are sonatas also by de Breville and de Severac (don't know the latter, but his other piano works are usually rather good), d'Indy, and there must be a few more. Am keen to follow this thread!
