Anna Priscilla Risher

Post by Phillip210 »

It may seem dull at first sight, but this little book of finger excercises is really useful, and promotes stretching between the inner fingers without breaking them. I use it myself a great deal. It is by Anna Priscilla Risher (1875-1946) and is unusual for being written solely for the white notes (there is no instruction to transpose), and maybe that's all one needs to fulfil this particular technical aim. Here is more about Risher: http://www.parlorsongs.com/bios/aprisher/aprisher.php

And you can download the studies from here: https://eu.storagemadeeasy.com/files/f5 ... 6517f1.pdf. I will put them on IMSLP, but they will only be available on the EU server, I guess.

I watched this youtube.

Dr. James I. McKeever is the editor of "Fundamentals of Piano Technique" by Leon and Olga Conus, last published in 1984.

I am curious anyone has access of this book, and the newer edition that he is working on.....

(i could not find the book in South East Asia, China or Japan) I wish there is a sample excerpts since the editor is still alive.....

A wonderful but forgotten piano method book is the Thomas Tapper series of Piano Pieces and Studies (7 levels of each for a total of 14 volumes)

Tapper-Graded Pieces Level 04.pdf
I have Vol. 2 and will scan and post, as soon as I can.

I am also posting Vols. 3-4... is any able to convert these files to black and white? I do not have the capability and it would be so helpful for printing

Also, does ANYONE have the upper levels of Tapper's Graded Piano Pieces... Vols. 5, 6, and 7? I have searched and searched and would love to obtain them or at least discover their contents! Any aid or leads are MUCH appreciated !!!!

I don't quite understand what these books are. Vol.III and IV do not correspond to vol.II and IV that you already shared. Is it a different series?

Hi Jean....Yes, there are 14 books divided between "Pieces" and "Studies" (read: Etudes)...There are 7 books of "Pieces" and 7 books of "Studies." I posted Vols. 3-4 of the "Pieces" and all of the contents of the 7 volumes of "Studies." Hope that clears it up! I am still missing the upper levels of the "Pieces" series...Vols. 5, 6, 7. Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

Your feedback on any or all of the content is also welcome. :)

I had trouble to convert your two files to decent B&W files but I am not an expert.
