Franck op 18 "Transcription" choice

Post by burstroman »

I'm planning to learn the Franck "Prelude Fugue & Variation, Op 18. Until recently, the only arrangement I was aware was the "Bauer". Now, it has come to my attention that there are the"Demus", "Mortenson", and "Friedman" versions. Would you offer suggestions or opinions about which one might be the most musical and worthwhile in your opinion to tackle? Thank you for your replies.

Just to add to the confusion, there is also an arrangement by Henry Geehl, published by Edwin Ashdown, as well as a Russian transcription (sorry, I don't read Russian...)
