2011 Cliburn Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs

Post by passthesalt »

The Van Cliburn Foundation's International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs begins Monday, May 23, 2011 at 1pm (CDT) in Fort Worth, Tx.

You can watch a live webcast of all competition performances and award ceremonies at cliburn.org. You can also watch via on-demand viewing immediately following each performance. There is also a free livestream app that lets you view the competition on phones and Ipads.

One reason why I enjoy this competition is that a number of competitors choose repertoire that's offbeat and interesting - after all, they're amateurs and are not competing to further concert careers (1st prize is $2,000 and a pair of cowboy boots).

The cliburn.org site has the complete schedule of performances.
