NB Nikolayev was the piano teacher of Shostakovich, Maria Yudina and
Sofronitsky! He wrote some good piano pieces too. I will play the
Szymanowski in the first Neuhaus-Szymanowski Festival in Kirovograd,
Ukraine, at the end of the month (they both lived in the town at the
beginning of the century).

The excellent soprano Svetlana Sozdateleva has recently been Katerina Izmaylova in The Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District with Helicon Opera in Moscow -- and next week will give a concert with me of early 20th-century Russian song in London.
