From a rare Frank Merrick Society LP:

Frank MERRICK
John Field:
Sonata op. 1 No. 1 1st mvt.
Nocturne No. 2
Sonata op. 1 No 1 2nd mvt.
Nocturne No. 8
Rondo in E ("Le Midi")

At least the first track is played on a period instrument. This fact, the compositions and the expressive but slightly uneven playing of the late F. M. evoce a nostalgic atmosphere somewhat reminiscent of the style of the late Adelina de Lara, who for me is the Miss Marple resp. Margaret Rutherford of the piano.

Hi Alfor,
Thank-you so much for this treasure trove of Merrick! Do you by any chance have SRRE137 (Frank Merrick Society vol6)? It sounds a great programme:

Parry - Theme and variations
Leschetizki - 'canzonetta' and 'Intermezzo in octaves'
Schutt - Valse mignone and Prelude in Bm
Bach - Echo
Chopin - Prelude 6 and Etude op10/12
Merrick - Hares on the mountain

Thank-you,
Rob

Dear Rob,

this one is extremely rare, but I will keep looking for it. I do have a recording of Merrick's Piano Sonata which I will post shortly.
