Recommendations for quality listening: burn to CD and listen with your CD-Player and stereo. As both channels have an identical signal, I prefer listening through one speaker only - which is not only more authentic, but really sounds better.

Mod edit: this thread is a spinoff from Alfor's Rarities thread in the Keyboard Discussion Area. As for that thread, this should be reserved for Alfor's uploads or links, and comments on them. FB

Stefan ASKENASE
Chopin Polonaise op. 53 (one of my favourite readings of this "warehorse"; observe bar 14 and the wonderful sensitive handling of the first appearence of the main theme)

Many thanks for the Alexandrov. I heard the LP of this in Paris earlier this year, and heard Viktor Bunin play some other late Alexandrov pieces (also dedicated to him) in Moscow a few years ago. Is there a chance anyone could convert this m4a into an mp3? Many thanks for both.

Gilbert SCHUCHTER, fairly unknown austrian (Salzburgian) pianist. Born around 1920, died the same day as Karajan. Recorded complete piano works of Schubert (LP issue on the Tudor label, reissued on RCA) and Mozart (Bellaphon LP issue, late 1970s). From this series of LPs one example (my own transfer, as always in this thread), the wonderful Fantasy in c minor K 396:

Two recordings of (as always my own transfers from the original LPs):
John IRELAND
Rhapsody

Alan ROWLANDS, the first pianist to record (under the supervision of the composer) the complete piano works (Lyrita RCS label, mono)
Eric PARKIN, the first pianist who made a complete stereo recoding (Lyrita SRCS label)

You will find all my recordings in the folder: "Alfor's recordings":

John IRELAND
Piano Sonata (Alan Rowlands, from Lyrita mono LP)
http://www.mediafire.com/alfor

The Sonata was premiered by Frederic Lamond (will post a shellac transfer of Beethoven's op. 110 with this once famous and nowadays fairly unknown pianist)
