I'd just like to put in a good word for Mezzo.
Long may it continue - other European classical music satellite tv channels have sadly
disappeared over recent years, including Classica, Musique Classique and Muzzik.
On the plus side, closure of those brilliant channels did give the broadcasters extra
transponder capacity for even more fifth-rate shopping channels, tarot card-reading
channels and soft-porn channels.
Don't you just despair of certain aspects of the modern world? I do.

This is the only tape I have with Liszt Paganini-etudes in the impossible to play first version. The performer was Nikolai Petrov, an excellent virtuoso even if wrong notes here are unavoidable ! A rare recording broadcasted from Genova 28 years ago.

Thank you Caprotti for the recordings of these two mighty works!
It looks like the Mahler recording is exactly 5 years old today, and
it complements nicely the 1999 one made by Zenker and Trenkner.
