11 variations on Bulgarian Folk Song

Ivajla Kirova, Piano - Live Recording in Munich 2016
Released by IFO CLASSICS, Germany (IFO 00221): https://www.amazon.de/Piano-Ivajla-Ki...

-------------------------------------------

Bulgaria and Macedonia are the only countries in Europe, whose folklore has an enormous amount of asymmetrical meters. The rhythmically irregularity, which leads to odd and changing meters is unique. In European music theory the asymmetrical meters were first noticed in 1886, when the Bulgarian music teacher Atanas Stoin published five Bulgarian melodies. The Bulgarian composer Dobri Hristov described in 1913 the whole variety of asymmetrical meters in his book „The rhythmic foundation of our folk music“. He put together a table with the Bulgarian asymmetrical meters, which was an achievement of major significance for music research. With this work, the asymmetrical meters are currently known beyond the borders of Bulgaria and Macedonia. The Hungarian composer Bela Bartok showed a particularly strong interest for Bulgarian folk music. Asymmetrical meters appeared repeatedly in his works. Bartok expressly emphasized that he had borrowed them from Bulgarian folk music. He called these asymmetrical meters also „Bulgarian meters“.
„Hoisata“ is a Bulgarian folk dance from the region Schumen, in the asymmetrical meter 9/16 (9/16=2+2+2+3/16). The Bulgarian word „Hoisa“ means round dance, and also jump, shake oneself. The dance is fast and happy, with vigorous jumps. It is danced by mixed pairs of a man and a woman. The Bulgarian revolutionist Rakowski wrote, that in his time (middle of the 19th century) the folk dance „Hoisata“ was very widespread and popular in Bulgaria.

there is a huge athology of Russian and soviet music, i dont yet know how many volumes or parts it contains but i count at least 8, likely more, here is part 1 volume 2
Notes and Editorial Reviews
This amazing new series provides a 21st-century outlook on the previous two centuries of piano music, featuring young virtuosos such as Andrei Korobeynikov, Nikita Mdoyants, Luka Okrostsvaridze, Asiya Korepanova, Yuri Favorin, Ekaterina Mechetina, and many more. These young artists did not just perform; they actually took part in compiling the series, searching in the music archives for the compositions that, in their opinion, deserved to find a way back to the listeners.

Yesterday whilst converting several YouTube soundtracks to mp3 files using Vubey
(for perfectly legal backup purposes) my main pc was hijacked by ransomware.

Fortunately, by doing the following, it didn't ruin the laptop (running Win7):-
1.Pulled out network cable (pc has wireless connection disabled).
2.Pulled out power input plug and removed internal batteries to stop the pc working.
3.Deleted Chrome's browsing history using a synced pc.
3.Refitted batteries to the pc and reconnected power input plug.
4.Restarted pc in safe mode and did a system restore.
5.Powered down the pc properly, reconnected network cable, and powered up normally.
6.Uninstalled Chrome from the Control Panel.
7.Used Firefox to get back on line. Freshly installed Chrome.
8.Everything was then back to how it was before the hijacking, with IE favourites
unaffected. In fact, Chrome now kicks into life quicker than before.

Whether all of the above steps were strictly necessary, I'm not sure.
But absolutely nothing was left to chance.

The question is, is Vubey still safe to use, or would I be better advised using
another mp3 converter, and if so, which is best?

That was yesterday's disaster. Today's was the central heating packing up! :(

Hi Scriabinoff,

I'd recommend the steps I took to recover the pc to anyone in a
similar predicament, if they are using Windows 7.

Following my original message about the disaster, a friend kindly
suggested that I use a brilliant little GUI called YouTube-DLG, which
allows one to simply paste several YT URLs at once into a dialogue box,
then the conversion and download is done automatically (either mp3
or mp4) with a decent bit rate and without even having to open the
internet browser. Marvellous!

My days of using on-line convertors, with all their strings attached
(plus a small risk of being hijacked by evil ransomware) are over.

Regards, Tim.
