Talking of 2008, I recently bought a Peugeot 2008. As with most newer cars, it lacks a CD player.
So I'm forced to use the USB socket, which reads USB sticks and plays mp3 files through the car's
audio system. Unfortunately, the system doesn't seem to tell me what music is being played.
So, it's a great way to listen to unfamiliar music that's been taken from YouTube, without being
100% sure of what's actually being played (having forgotten the order of what is stored on the
stick). Therefore it enables one to listen to stuff without letting prejudices get in the way.
This is how I recently discovered Rossini's amazingly beautiful and highly dramatic Stabat Mater.
The recording was the 2011 performance conducted by Antonio Pappano. Fortunately, this work
is also available arranged for piano solo by Henri Herz, a printed-out copy of which had been
gathering dust in one of my cupboards for several years, having never been played (until now).
