Until now i only discovered that korngold wrote a suite for that combination.

Korngold's seems to be the best known, but there are also several Trio Sonatas
by Corelli, Handel, Purcell and Telemann where there are published versions
which use this combination.
Also, there are some light-weight works by Haydn, Neil Edwards, and Jeremie Brenner, apparently.

Thank you timtin for your help. I think the baroques are the best to arrange. Afterall a violin can play a flute o an oboe part.

Following the recent release on Chandos of the Schubert Ensemble's recording
of the 2 Enescu Piano Quartets, I have three questions:- it is worth buying,
are the full scores available anywhere, and is there any justification in the
claim, sometimes made, that he was the greatest composer whose greatness
wasn't recognised. (To me, this third question is self-contradictory!)

I have a recording of Enescu's Second Piano Quartet - very beautiful piece...

Enesco should be mentioned in the same category as Bartok, Shostakovich and Stravinsky. For proof, hear the 3rd Symphony and the opera Oedipe.

I think I would probably agree if I knew more of his works, though I have almost everything, so I have no excuse really! The recording I have of the Second Quartet is by Gidon Kremer and is stunning, but no longer available it seems.

Shall I start an Enescu thread? We don't have enough single composer threads.

This post has nothing to do with piano quartets, although I love them.
The Enesco octet always seemed impressive to me, especially for a teenaged composer. The most interesting piece of his I have performed is the violin sonata number three:

A true 19th-century masterpiece:

Friedrich GERNSHEIM
Quartett (No. 3 F-dur) für
Pianoforte, Violine, Viola und Violoncell op. 47

Gernsheim Piano Quartet op.47 B.pdf

Here's an unusual piece. Looking through what works lists are available, I suppose the 'sonata no. 1' is the solo piano one he wrote 50 years earlier during his student years. Whatever the case may be, Aladov ('Aladau' in Belorussian) was one of the major composers active in Minsk and left behind a huge body of chamber works, symphonies, etc... during his career. Very few of these works saw publication outside of that region. We've previously seen his first string quartet and a few pieces for violin and piano:

Nikolai Ilyich ALADOV (ALADAU) (Belarus)
Sonata no. 2, for two violins, cello, and piano, op. 131 (1962)
Aladov - Sonata no. 2, for two violins, cello, and piano, op. 131 (1962).pdf

The RCM wants funds to restore scores.

Mozart's Piano Concerto K595 arranged as a piano
quartet by Hummel would be nice to see restored!
