So will we get the symphonies?

Franz Schmidt's First Symphony is on IMSLP. I suspect others will appear in due course - in particular the Third Symphony.

Thanks, Fred. Unfortunately IMSLP won't allow downloading of the individual parts. Perhaps I should have been more specific. A friend of a friend needs the 2nd violin part for a rehearsal today. If anyone has the 2nd violin part, please let me know. Cheers and thanks. P.

I made very low-resolution parts from the Brahms-Institut website's files.

Sorry - I've been more than rare here more than half a year, now, and this won't change so soon for very private reasons. But now I have a little sensation: Prof. Wilhelm Altmann's Handbook of (for?) the Piano Quintet Player from 1936 - in German only.
Altmann Wilhelm Handbuch fuer Klavierquintettspieler mit 343 Notenbeispielen -Wolfenbuettel 1936-.pdf
Also see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Altmann.

No anti-Jewish propaganda - e. g. about Ignaz Friedman and others. Nevertheless Anton Rubinstein is presented as "sibirischer Arier" (Siberian Arian?) - according to the Nazi diction of that dark, dark (brown) German era.

Enjoy - and help to find and share more rarities from Altmann's appetizing list!

Hope to join you later this year.

Following up on the string quartet I posted recently, here's another recent item I came across in looking over the works of Tibor Harsanyi, the Hungarian member of L'Ecole de Paris. The only chamber work of his I've heard recorded is his nonet for winds and string quartet, which was written at around the same time as this work. That piece can be found on MP3 or CD:

http://www.amazon.com/LEcole-Paris-Tans ... 0&sr=301-1

Anyhow, enjoy this quintet work. Alfor posted his piano sonata and some other pieces a while back as well. Interesting composer...

Harsanyi - Concertino, piano quintet (1931).pdf
(sorry about sticking the front cover on the last page... last minute addition and the stupid scanning machine wouldn't let me reorder the pages :-\ )
