Two cello sonatas were composed between 1944-46, but the score does not specify which of these is published.

Cello Sonata

Technically, this is a concerto reduction. Sitsky's book describes this as Mosolov's second cello concerto, a work written across the 1930s and 40s. His works list posits that there was a first concerto written in 1935 that might have gone lost. As far as I can tell, this is the only cello concerto that made it into any sort of print. Like many of his later works (e.g. 1961's Elegiac Poem for cello and piano/orch. we saw earlier), this is bound to dissatisfy anybody who enjoys this composer's futurist work of the 1920s. I would include myself in that category, but I still think this is an interesting historical document.
