It seems that Bertini had a habit of composing Etudes in sets of 25. However,
his Op.32 has only 24 - or does it?

On IMSLP, there are two editions, Litolff and Schirmer, each with 24 Etudes.
But Augener published Op.32 as '25 Studies' with this additional E minor Study
incorporated after the E major Study (No.21).

If anyone knows the background to this discrepancy, I'd be interested to
hear about it, thank you.

Just found these lines on a list of Bertini' studies :

I don't know if it helps.

Thank you JS. That seems to tie in with what I spotted earlier today,
namely that Op.29 also had an extra Study added to it in some editions.

Here's the missing Etude from Op.29. Curiously, in my Ashdown Edition,
the order of the Etudes is completely different from those which appear
as a set of 24 in the Peters Edition (and Litolff Edition), available on IMSLP.

Compared with the order in the Peters Edition, the Ashdown order is as follows:
8,7,2,12,(-),3,19,9,17,14,13,16,15,18,11,24,20,22,21,4,5,6,10,23,1.

So, for example, Etude No.2 in the Peters Edition is Etude No.7 in the Ashdown
Edition and the first Etude appears last! The un-numbered Etude (-) in the above
list is the missing Etude, which is in D minor. There are no others in D minor.

Here is an obscure Bertini etude from the Trill etude book.

Bertini, Henri-Op. 177 No. 07-Etude (Allegretto Quasi Andante) ('Etude du Trille')

Thank you. This study comes from Book E from Nouvelles Etudes, aiming at velocity of the trill and of the left hand. This one is clearly for the trill.
