some scores are downloadable as pdf, but others just as single jpgs, it's right?
yes, sometimes - it is strange - I believe it must be the older upload vs. the newer uploads.

I think that someone here is good at "pulling" the more troublesome scores from Polona - which would certainly be much appreciated !! Or perhaps someone has an actual account? I am always happy to help in any way that I can. Best wishes to you, Caprotti.

Thanks for the reply and tip "musiclife217". The Etude appassionato of Wolff that you posted earlier looks like it comes out of a compilation musicsheetbook (because there is an introduction about the composer above the piece). May I know which compilation book it is? I'm very curious which other pieces are in this book.

regards Björn (mocosuelo)
Hello again, yes, it is from an old lesson book course that I have, Level 5, in the 'National Graded Course.' The full piece has been shared here as well and beautifully recorded by our own incredible Gamma1734 on YouTube.

Here are the contents of Level 5:

Grieg, Edvard - Op. 40 No. 05 - Rigaudon
Chopin, Frederic - Op. 28 No. 03 - Prelude
Neupert, Edmund - Op. 18 No. 17 - Etude (Allegretto) (Bm)
Bach, Johann Sebastian - BWV 892 - a - Prelude (Allegro) (B)
Chopin, Frederic - Op. 10 No. 06 - Etude (Andante)
Tchaikovsky, Pyotr Ilyich - Op. 37 No. 09 - September - The Hunt
Mendelssohn, Felix - Op. 16 No. 02 - Capriccio
Rubinstein, Anton - WoO - Barcarolle (4th) (Allegro con Moto)
Wolff, Edouard - WoO - Etude de Salon, Grande - Tempete sur Mer (abridged as “Etude Appassionato”)
Bach, Johann Sebastian - BWV 829 No. 01 - Preambulum
Chopin, Frederic - Op. 10 No. 02 - Etude (Allegro)

the Edouard (Edward) Wolff - Op. 50 - Etudes, Twenty-Four

are here online:

https://daten.digitale-sammlungen.de/~d ... 83/images/ [book 1]

https://daten.digitale-sammlungen.de/~d ... 89/images/ [book 2]

Incredible composer and incredibly underrated !

I did not see the Tempete sur Mer in this group of Etudes, though I may have to look more closely. Perhaps it was also included in the abridged version. The Tempete sur Mer may be a 'WoO.'

I wish I were better with technology - perhaps I need to learn ! If anyone is able to get the images PDF'd, that would be fabulous, as always. Enjoy!

Wolff Ed. Etudes op.50 1er livre.pdf
Wolff Ed. Etudes op.50 2e livre.pdf
Tempête sur Mer seems to be a late work created for the Universal Paris Exhibition of 1878.
From the list mentioned on IMSLP, there are other collections of etudes :

Thank you, kindly! Great to have a moment on Wolff and fill out his works list - there is no quick list on IMSLP.

I personally am still looking for information on his piano concerto - I'm wondering if there actually is one or not at this point.

Oxford mentions one :
He wrote well over 300 compositions, chiefly for piano, including a concerto, five sets of studies, nocturnes, romances, fantasies, many transcriptions from operas, and a great number of duets for violin and piano
https://www.oxfordmusiconline.com/grove ... 0000030502
The French book mentioned on IMSLP also says :
Mais les meilleures compositions d ' Edouard Wolff sont ses concertos , ses études et ses fantaisies à quatre mains sur les opéras connus ,
but does not seem to list any in the listed compositions.

Dear friends,

here are some pages of the fantastic "Pazdirek" as a start. Maybe someone wants to create a .xls sheet from this.

The state library Berlin has a lot of his works in their old cardfiles:

Thank you, this is great! I will gradually make up a works list. Hopefully the concerto turns up. Thinking that it would make a fabulous addition to the Hyperion Romantic Piano Concerto series, as well!

at least miraculously there is a Wolff disc with a number of pieces:

The Allegro de Concert, Op. 39, is there, too. Has echoes of Chopin and sounds like it has potential for an even greater concerto!
