No...I have no record of the opera ever being recorded in the Soviet Union [unless Isokani might know different]?

Independantly from The Hero, two other operatic works are mentionned by scholars (although no one precisely say where the manuscripts could be located) 1941 The Signal and Masquerade after Lermontov.
there does seem to exist a recorded testimony of the 1989 concert performance of The Hero, as there's none of Popov's 4th (only choral) symphony, and most surprising no trace of his string quartet symphony performed at least three times by Danel SQ in the first months of 2010!

Something is a slightly easier vein - I posted several works by Vasily Zolotarev (1873-1964) a few months back, but did not include this work as the photocopy was quite poor. However, a friend asked for a copy, and as it did not look too bad when scanned, I am duly sharing with PP members.
