Dear caostotale, thank you for these interesting postings. I especially like the Sorokin studies and are a most welcome addition.

We've seen this composer's op. 42 sonata as well as a viola sonata. Biographical details can be found at:

Here's a piece by a composer who Shostakovich admired. There's a great website dedicated to his creative work (with several symphonic recordings):

This is in memory of the excellent Janusz Korczak, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janusz_Korczak, a truly heroic figure.

This could belong on the jazz/stride thread, but he was trained as a classical pianist first. I'd be interested if anyone could help in finding his set of 24 preludes.

Yury Nikolayevich CHUGUNOV
Jazz Pieces, for piano (pub. 1990)

including:

Impromptu (1980)
Nocturne (in the fashion of George Shearing) (1974)
Unheard Cry (1980)
Fantastic Visions (1978-84)
Monologue (Thelonius Monk), from the suite 'Jazz Portraits' (1981)
Reminder (1984)
In Memory of Bill Evans (1981)
Troubador (1988)
Sonata (1969-70)
Chugunov - Jazz Pieces, for piano (pub. 1990).pdf
