Dear Alfred, The awaited revision of the 7th sonata is giving me things to consider as I compare it to your previous version. Many thanks for those Rach Etudes--those Etudes-d'Tableau are among the very best pieces Rach ever wrote, and I never tire of hearing different interpretations of them.
Much appreciated--all your hard work.

Sergei RACHMANINOFF (Rachmaninov, Rakhmaninov)
Etude-Tableau op. 39,6

The main pattern of the right hand can be played with 3 different fingerings
a) 5-3-2-1 (most common)
b) 5-2-3-1 (unusual, but works very well!)
c) 5-2-2-1 (the fingering of choice for many a pianist!)

Wonderful, Alfred! I'm always looking for ways to improve and other than growing new larger hands, revised fingering is the best opportunity available to me. With great relish, I'm enjoying your revision, so far haven't seen much I'd change but, the night is young!

Ah, what an abundance of fingering opportunities here what with Prokofiev and Rach to work through today. I'm checking out the 3d Sonata again now and I see some subtle fingering differences from how I play it, and I'm thinking here and there "now why didn't I think of that?". Love the Rach etude--one of my favorite, and find your fingerings on those 3rds very efficient.

Sociedad Rachmaninoff de Panamá---sounds good. I just wonder how many other people are actually playing Rach in this country--usually the only time you'll hear him is in the rare concert pianist visiting Panama City. It's pretty much of a cultural wasteland unless you live there, but I'm far from it.
