Penultimate Sibley.......Aleksandr Sergeyevich Taneyev. Born 1850 St Petersburg, died 1918 same. A relative of the more famously known Sergei Taneyev; his mother was also a pupil of Henselt, and his father held important positions in the court and was a minor composer of several works. Studied composition with Reichel in Dresden, and later with Rimsky-Korsakov in St Petersburg. He also received advice from his friends, Balakirev, Glinka and Mussorgsky. He worked primarily in the Russian civil service and from 1900 headed the song commission of the Russian Geographic Society. He also collected Russian songs and was involved in the publication of "Fifty Songs of the Russian People" [harmonized by Lyadov and eight songs were used by him for his orchestral work Eight Russian Folk Songs]. Works include two operas, three symphonies, orchestra suites, overture, a ballade for orchestra, Reverie for violin & orchestra, three quartets, Violin sonata, romances, choral music and piano pieces.

His works tend to be fairly difficult to locate, so these are somewhat of a rarity.

Since you liked my edition, I've decided to post also the MIDI files to all five pieces, so it's possible for all also listen the Op.40.
Only one thing; the MIDI files are not perfect (especially in the 5th piece), but however are reliable at the 90%.
