The 1st (1923) version of Prokofiev's 5th Sonata (Op. 38, pub. 1925) is blocked on IMPSLP--are there any other sources? Thanks.

Sergei S. PROKOFIEV (Prokofieff):

Sonata No. 4 op. 29

A great work; unduly neglected!

Alfred, nice work on the fingering here. I'm slowly working though this sonata which is totally unfamiliar to me and finding lots of subtle compositional devices which makes this work quiet interesting for me.....

You are welcome!

Working on Sonatas Nos. 5 (his greatest, not only for Artur Rubinstein but also for my humble self)
and 7.

Re. No. 7: Avoid Richter, Pollini, Argerich (nickname: Ärgerlich), etc..
Go for Gould - and you will discover that there IS some music in it!!

And I thought I was the only one who liked Gould in the 7th. Yes, that's one of my favorite recordings...and makes one realize he plays other things besides Bach which are insightful.
