Since we've discussed the Pauers (Ernst and Max) recently, I thought to post this waltz by Ernst. enjoy

Does any member perchance have any additional scores by Charles Mayer to post?? We all have his wonderful etudes posted some time back (thanks again to Malc!), and an assortment of pieces on IMSLP, but this fellow's music really speaks to me and I would love to see more of his (supposedly vast) output. Any help is always appreciated.

Frank :)

Hi Biljana,

Thank you for these wonderful Mayer etudes. There are several real gems in the batch (like No. 11) and I am very happy to
be playing them today!!

Once again thanks for your thoughtfulness.

All Best,

Frank :D :D :D

Hello Bijana. I also want to thank you the Mayer Studies. Some of these are just excellent, and in addition to nr. 11 that Frank mentioned, I especially like nr.4

Jean-Louis Nicodé. Born near Posen in 1853, died langebrück, near Dresden in 1919. He was originally trained by his father and the organist Hartkäs, before entering Kullak's Academy in Berlin. Studied piano with Kullak, harmony with Wüerst and composition with Kiel. He lived for some years in Berlin as a teacher and pianist. From 1878-1885 joined faculty of the Dresden Conservatoire; from 1885-1888 was the conductor of the Philharmonic Concerts. He later established the "Nicodé Concerts" and formed the Nicodé Chorus so to be able to perform the larger choral works. In 1900, he abandoned these concerts and retired to Langebrück to devote himself to composition, with the odd appearance as a conductor.

Composed works for voice and orchestra, a symphony, symphonic poems, two cello sonatas, songs and many piano pieces.

I have been a little surprised that no works by Nicodé appear to have been posted in recent times on this site - so here are four works, hot off the scanner [thank you Mr P]:

Op 6 Fantasiestucke
Nicode JL - Fantasiestucke Op 6.pdf
Op 8 13 Aphorismen
Nicode JL - 13 Aphorismen Op 8.pdf
Op 9 Zwei Charakterstucke
Nicode JL - Zwei Charakterstucke Op 9.pdf
Op 19a Scherzo
Nicode JL - Scherzo Op 19a.pdf
NB: transferred over from Poland Composer's thread as incorrect placement
