SCHUBERT:

Sonata A flat major ed. Rihbörg

I like this little „Sonatina“- which is pretty much unknown - very much!

Alfred, thanks for unearthing this lovely little sonatima. I don't play much Schubert, this compact little gem is a true delight. Homage to Mozart & Haydn, indeed!

If you really want to come close to SCHUHBÖRRT's dschihnius,
simply play this Sonata:

Nice scans of the 1881 Kistner & Siegel issue have just appeared on IMSLP.

The same uploader has also added the 6 Pieces, Op.66 as well.

Here is a nice book of 6 rare piano pieces by Schubert. I had not come across these at all prior to my aquisition of this set of scores when i got a box load old unsold stock from a music store and book shop when went out of business a good while ago.
Mirovitch gives a nice write up and little discussion on the set and ea individual piece. I was floored that one of them may have been a lost final movement to one of the sonatas in that it didnt get published as might have been intended (indeed there were some very questionable decisions made by publishers of this works after his death w the rise in popularity of his music)
