Chow Shu - San.

Can someone find biographical information? I have a rare book of his arrangements of Chinese pieces that includes a photo and singed note from Rubinstein to him and among the arrangements is a really nice original, concert appropriate, piece called Dragon Dance (all others are transcriptions of traditional melodies and folk music, the forward says it is in the spirit of Bartok and folk melodies and Liszt Rhapsodies, etc.).

So it's out of print,
Chow, Shu San. Album of Chinese Piano Pieces ... Fingered and edited by Chow Shu San. Hong Kong: National Music Edition, 1968.
He may be alive, in which case i would not share the book per pp guidelines, but maybe just his Dragon Dance as permitted? Or just one

If you can give a scan on those pages with CHINESE characters, i can decipher for you......

Or if it is some transcription/arrangement.... dragon dance or something like that, is the theme somewhat resemble that of Li Yundi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPfCC2-mmT0 if that is the tune, i can figure out.

Or, if you prefer some alternative arrangement, take a look at this... http://www.hqgq.com/qinpu/1763.html

somewhat related to the posts and updates and examples I shared from the Yuyama children's albums (in particular discussion was for Confections and Children's Land).

I was sharing info w someone recently on this super charming set published by edition Kawai Japan. I'm in the process of securing scores for import but was so pleased when I discovered a few months ago that the entire recording of the 21 pieces was made available by Kawai on their publishing arm's youtube channel.

They are 'for small hands' like Yuyama's "Children's Land" and progressive in nature for the most part but the early ones are quite charming with many little folk music and modal elements weaved into their constructions.

fellow pianophillians that like me enjoy music of this regin and also the Children's music type of work would might like these as much as I do.

I cant help but put this youtube.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VvUi6x2CtQ

The 1970 version of Yellow River Piano Concerto, as played by Yin ChengZhong (well, he is supposedly the arranger from Yellow River Cantata, but there are a lot of arguments)

The distinctive original version is marked by the propaganda "Dong Fang Hong" (meaning, the eastern sky is red) and is shown by the appearance of Mao photo.

This youtube is Yin ChengZhong transcription of a folk tune, played by Yin ChengZhong as well, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM6uAfa2O0E

Also is this youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOMB_46mkzw
The full version of Yellow River Cantata has 8 pieces, of which the 3rd is usually omitted. This is the youtube of the 3rd piece. This is totally oriental music idiom, dont bother the meaning of the recitation, just feel for the flow of the music.

What a delightful, moderately challenging yet highly accessible and tactilely rewarding piece to play. Many thanks!

Piano Concerto in B Minor: Allegro Appassionato (Japanese: ピアノ協奏曲 ロ短調 アレグロ・アパッショナート, Piano kyōsōkyoku Ro tanchō areguro apasshonāto)" -
composed by Taku Matsushiba
https://youtu.be/zBZpptEZzE8
wanted to bring this to attention of those interested, a great little neoromantic concerto, transcribed for solo piano (movement/excerpt) has been published by Yamaha Music Media [YMM] (Japan).
Note, it sounds like Saint Saens to me, but I cannot place it , maybe it served as a template or inspiration?

composer and bio and link to recording of the work (the pianist is great, i've watched many of her recordings, and generally they are superb)

Graduated Tokyo University of the Arts Composing Division

While studying and playing contemporary music, as he started listening to Cornelius' album "Sensuous" in high school. That experience expanded his music interest, exceeding to genres such as pop and electronica. He then discovered his love for the tidemark of soul music, D'angelo. Being struck by the incredible groove of D'angelo's unique rhythm and sound balance, Taku realised how limited his music notation (musical score expression) was and drove him to study more deeply about contemporary music. All those experiences lead him to compose music that sounded like a mash up of contemporary music and classical music. This new musical approach was highly received around the world. With his remarkable orchestration, he has extended his works to composing music for advertisements and animations.
