Varvara Mihailovna Amiradzhibi [Amiradjibi]. Born 1874 : died 1939. Georgian composer, teacher and pianist.

Amiradzhibi graduated from the Moscow Conservatoire with a silver medal in piano after studies with Safonov, and composition with Ippolitov - Ivanov.
She performed extensively across Georgia, often with I & R Levin. She knew and met both Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. In 1913, during a visit by Rachmaninov to Georgia, he visited the salon of Princess Lisa Orbeliani, where a prominent Georgian intelligentsia were gathering, and there he met with Amiradzhibi. Amiradzhibi worked at a local music school, which was later to become a conservatoire, and hence became a noted teacher, especially for the young. It was at this stage that she began to compose pieces to support her pupil’s education.

Amiradzhibi V - Little Gavotte for Piano (1936).pdf

More Georgian works in the piano / 4 hands thread and Two Piano thread.
