Wonderful post, Alfred. Sure! Why not give the (often neglected) left hand a workout with that Prelude in D? I like the idea. We'll call it Scarlattification.

J. S. Bach Wohltemperirtes Clavier (well-tempered keyboard)
Book 1 and Book 2
published by Edward Ashdown
has been out of print for several decades, and long out of copyright.

It was a highly annotated edition from the 1930s (I think), referencing many earlier and contemporaneous editions, in particular Busoni and Mugellini. Extremely clearly set out, with very good fingerings. It is In stark contrast to today's minimalist urtext editions. To my eyes, is easier to read than Mugellini, much easier to read than Busoni, and offers better insights than either in many instances.
