Consequently, I wonder if anyone does have the Op.19 Polonaise by Blahetka. Here is a young lady playing it on youtube. Damned fine work and playing.

When I asked them if their book of Blahetka contained the Polonaise, they promised to let me know, but never got back. Obviously, it is too much of a strain to pull something off a shelf and have a look inside.

Personally, I refuse to use them.

However, the answer is YES :

Has no one ever found any music by Maria Bach? She is written about as something of a Korngold disciple.

Amy Beach might be best-known for her lovely Gaelic Symphony (at least it's the piece by her that seems to get recorded most), but she wrote some beautiful, evocative music. I've just discovered the two Hermit Thrush pieces (IMSLP: http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Beach,_Amy_Marcy, Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV4H41jDGaQ) and I'm rather impressed.
Does anyone have any of the later, impressionist works to share? By the Still Waters, op. 114 and the Three Pieces, op. 128 (the second of which, according to Amazon, is rather startlingly titled 'Young Bitches' (err, that should be 'Birches') are especially lovely, although anything in her more 'advanced' idiom would be gratefully received. Her earlier, Macdowell-esque miniatures are easy to find, but less interesting, I think. Much of her late piano music is on IMSLP but (of course) almost everything after Hermit Thrush is blocked

I have a stack of Amy Beach music, and will gladly scan it for you.

For you two piano enthusiasts I also have a large work of hers for two pianos.

If it is "safe" to scan all these pieces, you are welcome.

Peter (liveforpiano).

Many thanks, Rob for the music you've uploaded, and for the op 128 Three Pieces especially. They're really rather wonderful, I think. Some of Amy Beach's music is being republished, including some great, cheap reprints on Masters, and two books by Hildegard Publishing Company, but the last are both prohibitively expensive, at about US$50 each, considering there are only a handful of mostly ealier works in each volume. Peter, If you could scan some of it some time I (and I'm sure many others) would be very grateful.

I will be happy to scan some of the Beach for PP.
My biggest problem (as Malcolm could tell you) is that I have a huge collection but, since I moved to a smaller house (through necessity) a couple of years ago, I have a problem finding the scores. There is just too much music for me to go through to get some order into the collection, much as I would love to do it. I have spent over half the day today trying to find the Sonata by Leo Livens for Alfor, but so far not found it.
So I ask you to be patient with me. I will find the music, and I will scan it.
Peter.

Of course a great deal of Beach's music is still under copyright.
She lived until 1944.
