BENELUX - Music from Belgium, Netherlands & Luxembourg

The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are much neglected countries if it comes to music. Let's change that bit by bit in this thread.

To start with: Philipp Rüfer (1844-1919) was a composer from Belgium (born in Liège). He worked as a teacher in Berlin at the institute of Xaver Scharwenka. His most important pupil was Heinz Tiessen. He wrote some large scale works (an opera "Merlin", a Symphony, a Violin Concerto) and obviously some smaller piano works, among them this Phantasy Piece.

Edit: Sorry, the original file lacked page 3. Now here is the corrected score.

Since when? I had to go to musiclessons since I was 4 years old. I still see myself walking down the street with my baby-recorder, asking myself "why do my parents want me to do this?" I was neglected!

It's a shame that scores by Louis Andriessen cannot be posted. He is the most talented out of his whole family, in my opinion!

He is alive and composing.Celebrated his 70th birthday with a concert in the Concertgebouw a month ago.Interesting to know is that his father Hendrik was a major source of inspiration to him.His Ricercare was played there.
