just something worthy of mention...

did anyone else notice that the 11th Etude in the original, first edition of Heller's Op. 45 Etudes is "not like the rest;" that is, it is not the "sleeting" etude that seems to have been inserted into the Schirmer edition and others? Does anyone have any other info on this? Has this original one ever been recorded?

I doubt that the Ricordi score be the original one.
According to this essay
https://shareok.org/bitstream/handle/11 ... sAllowed=y
the original score was published with Schlesinger in Berlin in 1844, and the n°11 was already the "sleeting" one. This of course only displaces the question : why Ricordi changed n°11 ? Maybe because it was considered too difficult ?

Thank you for this excellent reference. It does make more sense that Schlesinger would have been the original publisher. Very curious that a "new" number 11 would appear later and elsewhere.... I hope that it was still written by Heller! Thank you, again.

Given that Seiber died in 1960, I suspect copyright restrictions to posting his works would apply here.

Fred
