My thanks also to Biljana for this important link for Hungarian music!! Although it is mostly chamber material, there are piano solos at the end and I was able to download some very nice things. I highly recommend the "Sonata Appassionata" by Akos von Buttykay. It takes some fiddling to download (and some time) but this is a major piano work and talk about obscurity!!

I second your suggestion for the Sonata Appassionata of Buttykay. There is also an interesting Valse-Caprice by him on the site.
As you say. Downloading is a bit of a problem. But these are well worth the effort. I played through both of these works this afternoon and really enjoyed them.

Albert Siklós (1878-1942), among his compositons there are a piano concert and piano pieces.

Here: La Danse OP. 41-2 and Allegretto OP.41-3, from Les Amusements de Ferkó.

Does anyone have Stephen Hellers Op. 101 Rêveries du promeneur solitaire?

I have just listened to a recording of it by Marc Pantillon on the great site http://www.gottschalk.fr/Heller/Heller.html but can't find the score anywhere.

Ottokar Novacek (1866-1900). Violinist and composer. Originally studied with his father, then with Dont in Vienna with further studies with Schradieck and Brodsky at the Leipzig Conservatoire. He graduated in 1855 with the Mendelssohn Prize. In Leipzig he joined the Brodsky Quartet; from 1891 he was engaged by Nikisch to join the Boston Symphony Orchestra as a violinist, and between 1892-93 he played viola with the Damrosch Orchestra in New York. He was forced to abandon work in 1899 owing to degenerative heart disease and died shortly afterwards aged only 33. As a composer he is best remembered for his Perpetuum mobile for Violin & orchestra [or piano], although he also wrote a piano concerto in 1896, which was introduced by Busoni; a Sinfonietta for 8 woodwind instruments; 3 string quartets; 2 concert caprices for piano; 8 concert caprices for violin & piano; Bulgarian Dances for violin & piano, plus numerous songs.
