Thank you Phillip for pointed out the Coates etude. While technically presenting interesting challenges, it seems rather musically poor as difficulty for the sake of being difficult doesn't do much for me. Still happy to see something challenging once in a while.

An etude ' Feu Roulant' by the French pianist and composer, Jean Baptiste Duvernoy (1802-1880).

Thank you Malcolm. Duvernoy seems to have a relatively big number of works, judging from the opus number but he is not very well represented in our collections. Your addition is welcome.

Seconded! This is much more worthwhile etude even if the left hand doesn't have all that much. Yes, we need to add to our Duvernoy collection A few more on IMSLP: http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Duvernoy,_Jean-Baptiste

Fascinating to see this - I have been playing the two-piano version of this for years, but never knew that it existed in a solo version!

Would you be so kind to upload this 2 piano version? I couldn't find it online.

I've just realized that the score was already on IMSLP, in two different editions.

Strangely enouh, one of the two is numbered op. 263bis instead of op. 256

Surprised this thread had slipped to page 2 ! This is on IMSLP, but a rather poor copy...........so as I had a reasonable clean copy thought it worth sharing. More etudes to come shortly.

I am a great lover of etudes and this is certainly an exceptionally brilliant one. Nice to take a break Alfor's collected etudes, not to mention Tausig with this very well written piece. Thank you, Malcolm.

Then especially for you Fleubis - two etudes Op 43 by Max Jentsch (1855-1918). Useful worklist at the end of etude No. 2 and a few other works on IMSLP.
