Here are a few more places in the U.S. to search for rags and other old sheet music:

The download of the month at my site (go to http://waltercosand.com/CosandScores/ and then click on the picture of the sheet music cover)
is "Patricia Rag" by Joseph Lamb. I am taking this opportunity for a shameless plug for my site because I recently watched an interview of Lamb's daughter Patricia (on the Library of Congress website) in which this cover is discussed. Some reference works say that the piece is named after Lamb's daughter when, in fact, the rag was published long before Patricia's parents met. URL for the interview is:

Forgive me, Walter, I should have put your site at the top of my list. I find many gems in your library.

Thread resuscitation time - this was the second oldest inactive thread on PP :)

I picked this up from usenet - a collection of historic rags + a few others (I don't think Danny Boy is a rag...). Its fairly large so the link is from MediaFire.

Hello Friends,

I've been recently uploading many scores to the "Syncopations, Novelties & The Like" thread, a number of which should really be classified as ragtime rather than novelty piano solos. For this reason I'd like to continue the "pure" ragtime postings on friend oren's "Rag Threads" site, and keep the "Syncopations" site for post ca. 1922 novelty solos. I know there are novelty pieces which can rightfully be considered rags. This thread should be devoted to the earlier vintage material. Certainly members in search of a given score should search both threads, since there will be cross-over between them.

There is so much music to cover...literally several thousand rags and cakewalks. Ultimately, with contributions from similarly minded Pianophilians, we can make Pianophilia the key depository for ragtime and syncopated music; even to a greater extent than any of the many pre-existing ragtime collections. In addition to my own collection, over the years I copied ragtime material from the Library of Congress (which will take years to catch up to us), as well as major collections including those of Trebor Tichenor, Mike Montgomery and Tony Hagert (to name just a few). Much of this ragtime hasn't seen the light of day in years.

Let the ragtime begin!

All Best,

Frank
