Thank you very much, Oren!! Do you happen to have the other (late) Bush piano sonatas (I assume they are manuscript and only available through the Bush trust)?

I am also looking for piano works by John Gerrard Williams, who wrote a couple of excellent witty piano pieces, influences by lighter music.

best regards

alfor

P.S. if there are no copyright problems, I could post the sonata No. 1 by Reizenstein and sonata by Ferguson (or do you have it, Oren?)
Hi Alfor
By ferguson i own the sonata and some more
And i can try locate the Bush
I am very interesting to play the Reizenstrin (if you could post it)
Again, thanks alot for increasing my "Repertoir-education"
Best regards
Oren

vallier-cornish sketches for piano solo
Oren

John Vallier (1920 – 1991) was an English classical pianist and composer[1]. He was the son of the famous French bass Jean Vallier and the English pianist Adela Verne (his aunt was Mathilde Verne).

Vallier toured extensively in the 1940s and 1950s for the WEA, playing recitals at schools and church halls throughout the UK, and doing valuable work in bringing classical music to parts of the country where live performances were rare. His amiable personality helped immeasurably in this task. As a serious artist, he was one of the last of the generation who, as an encore, would request the name of a composer and a popular tune from audience members, and improvise works in the style of the composer suggested.

Howard Ferguson
1908 - 1999

Howard Ferguson was talent-spotted in Belfast as a 13-year-old pianist and invited to take lessons in London with Harold Samuel * At the Royal College of Music studied composition with R O Morris and conducting with Sir Malcolm Sargent * Compositional breakthrough came in 1933 with the Octet, widely regarded as his masterwork * Influenced by Brahms, and supported music of friends Vaughan Williams and Finzi * Works combine love of Classical forms and thematicism with expressive Romantic idiom * Meticulous approach to craftsmanship produced small output praised for its compositional perfection * In 1959, after making a final artistic statement in two oratorios, abandoned composition in favour of parallel musicological interests * Works championed by leading performers including Myra Hess, Jascha Heifetz, Yfrah Neaman, Kathleen Ferrier, Sir Henry Wood and Sir Adrian Boult

Works by Howard Ferguson include:
Octet (1933) for clarinet, bassoon, horn and string quintet
Piano Concerto (1950-51) for piano and strings
Amore Langueo (1955-56) for tenor, chorus and orchestra
