Given the size of the universe and therefore the difficulty of locating the exact centre, I am not surprised that Tim should make this somewhat imprecise claim. In fact, recent studies have shown that the centre of the universe is close to the Simpson Desert in Australia. This was first discovered by Harold Bell Lasseter, who named the spot Lasseter's Reef, for reasons which are not clear. It does appear that no-one else has been able to locate the same spot. It has been suggested that this is due to the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, although some people have their doubts about this.Timtin wrote:1.
