By now I've managed to locate a handful of Fragoso pieces - I think this is about 1/3 of his total output for piano solo. Still interested if anyone can find more.

Hahaha! Actually I was amazed we didn't have a Portuguese thread. If you think there's sufficient repertoire to cover then I am quite happy to split this thread...

Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga (1806-1826):

His life has an extraordinary parallelism with Mozart's (starting with the fact that both were born on January 27).

A couple of his compositions for piano, and his biography with a picture.

Arriaga's 3 string quartets, Happy Slaves Overture and Symphony in D are all excellent works.
One final thought (totally unrelated): aren't Andorra and Gibraltar also part of Iberia?

Yes. I'd already thought of that. And at the risk of annoying Spanish (or at least Madrid-based) members, Spain is to some extent an artificial construct (as are many nation states, the UK included*) and we could of course have threads for Basque composers and Catalan composers, of whom there are very many, not to mention Valencian composers and Andalucian composers... In all cases, post enough of the music and I will split the posts off into their own threads. I must say that I would particularly like to see threads for the Basques and the Catalans.

*That reminds me that we really ought to have separate threads for composers from Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Any takers?
