Dear friends,

Mompou elusive Cancion y Danza

I see that after the lovely set of XII Canciones y danzas that are fairly widely distributed (I have them), Mompou wrote another three--one for organ, one for guitar, and one more for piano (XIV). Alicia de Larrocha recorded it, at the very least. Does anyone have a copy, or could someone point me the right direction?

Do you mean this one? Not my scan, by the way.
The melody of the cancion has much resemblance with the piece Catalana by Federico Longas, which I posted 4 years ago (see page 32 of this thread). Maybe it's a folk song that they both use?

Sofia Lourenço has recorded recently portuguese music of José Vianna Da Motta and Joao Daddi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czDDu7-Dai8
and i'd very curious to see some piano music of Daddi
Thanks
Daddi played for Liszt when he was in Portugal.

Hi all,

Another request: Mompou's Dialogues (I and II, I believe).

Thanks!

According to this Wikipedia page, while some of Mompou's c-y-d pieces are wholly original, this indeed *is* based on folk motifs.

Thank you for the information! It is indeed the folksong Canco del lladre.
It is on IMSLP as a guitar description by Miguel Lloblet.
And many guitar versions of this tune on Youtube.
