mballan wrote:A Schytte mystery: I have two albums by Augener of pieces by Schytte, but alas no details on opus numbers is given. I have managed to check off the majority of these pieces with works I already hold by this composer, but are left with the following, which I am unable to verify as either do not have the full work, or am unable to locate it within Schytte's extensive list of piano pieces.

I would be very grateful, if any one is able to throw any light on these pieces.................and if not, then some more works to add to our Schytte collection.

Melodie [think this may be from Op 83]
Schytte L - Melodie [Op 83 ].pdf
Aubade [there is an Aubade Op 77 No. 1......but this is a different work]
Schytte L - Aubade.pdf
Cantilene [can find no trace of any work with this title]
Schytte L - Cantilene.pdf
Gavotte [there are several gavottes by Schytte but none match this piece]
Schytte L - Gavotte.pdf
Scherzino [again unable to locate the opus for this work]
Schytte L - Scherzino.pdf
Dance of the Gnomes [there is a similar titled work within Op 66 - but that is a different work]
Schytte L - Danse des Gnomes [Gnomenreigen].pdf
Three pieces from Op 22 ?
Schytte L - Dans les forêts (Im Walde) [Op 22 No. 1].pdf
Schytte L - A la montagne (Zu Berge) [Op 22 No. 3].pdf
Schytte L - En Aval (Den Fluss Hinab) [Op 22 No. 5].pdf
Scherzo-Etude [this may come from one of Schytte's many volumes of etudes but unable, as yet, to link to a specific opus]
Schytte L - Scherzo-Etude.pdf
Hello there,

I can shed some light on this...

Five of these are from Schytte's Op. 15 Etudes and are given these imaginative titles in the collection.

Op. 15 No. 02 - Melodie
Op. 15 No. 03 - Danse des Gnomes
Op. 15 No. 04 - Cantilene
Op. 15 No. 09 - Scherzino
Op. 15 No. 16 - Scherzo-Etude

These may be updated...

**It may also be useful to note that the famous "Ghosts" piece from Schytte is from this Etude set, as well, Op. 15 No. 12 !!**

If someone could alert our dear Phillip - his notes on the YouTube recording state that he has known the Scherzo-Etude for Forty years without knowing the opus number!

I will post the Op. 15 here for reference...
Schytte, Ludvig-Op. 15-Etudes, Sixteen Melodious.pdf
I will keep digging for the others - does anyone else have any new information?

Just as an aside, this is his Etude Op. 17 No. 19 - just the pleasant title added! Wish there were more recorded examples of Neupert's work!

I have taken some time to examine the situation of Neupert scores on IMSLP and I am going to clarify a few items because there seems to be some confusion in some files.
Regarding specifically this so-called April's Nocturne, indeed etude op.17 n°19, it receives the fancy name of "Bird's song" in the Schirmer collection, available here :
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id= ... 1up;seq=14
I am not affiliated to the Library and cannot download the file. Can someone help ?
This collection of 12 studies seems to be the same as that published by Peters (without fancy names)
https://play.google.com/store/books/det ... XxJRUvT_UC
Again, I can read it but not download it.
Our dear member Phillip Sear has recorded this piece twice at some years interval :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AcDOPK9naw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd5mR7sbZTI
apparently without fully realizing it was exactly the same piece under different names.
Most of the etudes by Neupert are available at the Royal Danish Library and I think that our Riodk had helped in this matter. However, I cannot find op.22 Ten etudes. Has someone access to them ?
In IMSLP, there is a collection of 33 etudes
http://imslp.org/wiki/33_Et%C3%BCden_(N ... 2C_Edmund)
taken from the publication of 100 etudes shown in the first pages of
http://imslp.org/wiki/12_Etudes%2C_Op.1 ... 2C_Edmund)
I have painfully succeeded in identifying each of them in opp. 17, 18, 19, 20, 26. I have not found the origine of etude 17. Has anyone a clue ?
